Low Energy

Do you often wake up tired and feel as though you are dragging yourself through the day? If you suffer from daytime fatigue, know that your body is asking you to rest because of low energy reserves. But, because we lead such hectic lives, we tend to use caffeine, sugar and stimulants to boost our energy instead of resting.

Low energy is a sign that your body is out of balance. If you always feel tired at the same time of day, in Chinese medicine that can help pinpoint the root cause of your imbalance. For example, if you feel tired in the morning, this is linked to your digestion. If it’s lunchtime, this is linked to your cardiovascular system. If you always seem to get tired at a specific time of day, this is when you should be practising a few yang sheng techniques.

If you are just feeling exhausted all day long, this signals a more severe imbalance. Because our bodies are so complex, there could be any number of reasons that your energy flow is disrupted. Constant lack of energy could obviously point to any number of medical issues, so please speak to your GP if you are concerned.

But – the philosophy behind yang sheng is to help restore balance, which will invigorate your system and improve your energy levels. So, no matter what the cause, I’d advise adding the basic techniques into your daily routine, to see if that makes a difference. You can learn more here.
